Future Curiosity Lab เป็นหน่วยงานวิจัยและพัฒนาภายใน (Internal R&D Unit) ทำหน้าที่เป็นหน่วยปฏิบัติการด้านการมองอนาคตเชิงกลยุทธ์ (Strategic Foresight Unit) สังกัดศูนย์การทดลองเมืองกรุงเทพมหานคร (Bangkok City Lab)
คำว่า "Curiosity" ในบริบทนี้ หมายความถึงได้ตั้งแต่ “ความสงสัยใคร่รู้ทั่วไป” ไปจนถึง "กระบวนการตั้งคำถามและสืบค้นอย่างมีวินัยและเป็นระบบ" (Disciplined and Systematic Inquiry) เพื่อทำความเข้าใจการเปลี่ยนแปลงที่ซับซ้อนและระบุประเด็นยุทธศาสตร์สำหรับอนาคต
The Future Curiosity Lab is an internal research and development unit within the Bangkok City Lab. It functions as a strategic foresight unit.
In this context, curiosity means anything from general interest and questioning, to a disciplined and systematic process of inquiry—aimed at understanding complex change and identifying strategic issues for the future.

ประเด็นวิจัยตั้งต้น
กรุงเทพมหานครเป็นเมืองที่มีบทบาททางเศรษฐกิจสูงและดึงดูดผู้คนเข้ามาเพื่อทำงานเป็นหลัก โครงสร้างเมืองและชีวิตประจำวันของคนกรุงเทพฯ จึงผูกพันอย่างใกล้ชิดกับเรื่องการทำงาน ขณะเดียวกัน เทคโนโลยี โดยเฉพาะปัญญาประดิษฐ์และเครื่องจักรอัตโนมัติ กำลังเป็นแรงผลักสำคัญที่เปลี่ยนแปลงรูปแบบการใช้ชีวิตและการจัดการเมืองอย่างต่อเนื่อง
Future Curiosity Lab จึงกำหนดประเด็นวิจัยเชิงยุทธศาสตร์ 3 หัวข้อที่เกี่ยวโยงกัน ได้แก่:
ปัญญาประดิษฐ์และเครื่องจักรในเมือง
วิเคราะห์ผลกระทบและความเป็นไปได้ใหม่ของเมืองจากการประยุกต์ใช้เครื่องจักรและ AI ในมิติต่าง ๆ เช่น การคมนาคม บริการสาธารณะ และการจัดการข้อมูล ซึ่งส่งผลต่อวิถีชีวิตคนเมือง
อนาคตของการทำงาน
ศึกษาการเปลี่ยนแปลงนิยาม รูปแบบ และโครงสร้างของตลาดแรงงานในอนาคต รวมถึงผลต่อบทบาทของกรุงเทพฯ ในฐานะศูนย์กลางเศรษฐกิจระดับภูมิภาค
ชุมชนเมืองในอนาคต
สำรวจพลวัตและความสัมพันธ์ของชุมชนในเมือง ที่อาจปรับตัวจากการเปลี่ยนแปลงของรูปแบบการทำงานและการใช้เทคโนโลยี ตลอดจนผลกระทบต่อการขยายตัวของเมือง ความต้องการสาธารณูปโภค และการอยู่อาศัย
ทั้ง 3 ประเด็นนี้เชื่อมต่อกันผ่านความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการทำงาน เทคโนโลยี และการพัฒนาเมือง โดยหวังว่าการศึกษาร่วมกับเครือข่ายชุมชนและหน่วยงานในพื้นที่จะช่วยให้เข้าใจภาพรวมของการเปลี่ยนแปลงที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นได้ชัดเจนขึ้น
Bangkok is a city where many people come to work. The shape of the city, and daily life within it, is closely tied to jobs and the economy. At the same time, new technologies, including artificial intelligence, energy systems, and communication tools, are steadily changing how people live and how cities are managed.
Future Curiosity Lab has chosen to begin with three connected research themes:
Beyond Human Intelligence
Examining how machines and artificial intelligence may change the city and create new possibilities across different areas of urban life.
The Future of Labour
Studying how work itself might change its meaning, forms, and structures, and what this could mean for Bangkok as an economic center.
The Cluster in the City
Exploring how different communities in the city might evolve when work patterns change, including effects on city growth, infrastructure needs, and where people choose to live.
These three areas are interconnected through the relationship between work, technology, and urban development. We hope that studying these with community networks and local agencies will help us see the bigger picture of changes that might come.

การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลและสัญญาณการเปลี่ยนแปลง
รวบรวมและวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงปริมาณและคุณภาพ รวมถึงการตรวจจับสัญญาณที่อาจบ่งชี้ถึงการเปลี่ยนแปลงในอนาคต

Data Analysis and Signal Scanning
Gathering and analysing both quantitative and qualitative data, and detecting signals that may indicate future change.
Future Scenario Development
Creating at least three to four plausible future scenarios to be used as tools for testing strategies and policies.
Systemic Design
Applying systems thinking to understand connections and relationships within the city’s ecosystem, and to identify effective leverage points for policy intervention.
Findings and strategic recommendations from the Future Curiosity Lab will be presented to Bangkok City Lab to help design pilot projects and develop policy innovations.

The Future Curiosity Lab is a small, specialised unit for futures thinking and systemic analysis, supporting long-term, forward-looking policy decisions. Its role is to help reduce risks and strengthen the city’s adaptive capacity.
Ultimately, the integration of the Lab’s work—exploring possible futures—with Bangkok City Lab and other partners’ efforts to create preferable futures will be key to driving Bangkok toward sustainable, adaptive development in the face of change.
